Here is how to clean your entire home with baking soda!

Posted by Layla Byrd on

I know you have baking soda somewhere in your kitchen. Every household has it, right? Well, why not find the best way to use this inexpensive ingredient and put it to work? I am here to teach you of all the amazing ways you can use baking soda to clean your home!

– Cutting boards

Cleaning and disinfecting cutting boards are extremely important. Washing them with soapy water isn’t enough – trust me!

The easiest way to clean your cutting board is to mix baking soda with salt and water. After creating a paste you should scrub the board with it.

– Your fridge

More specifically – deodorizing your fridge. After deep cleaning it, you can create a deodorizer which consists of 2 cups of baking soda and 20 drops of your favourite essential oil. Place the mixture in your fridge and allow it to absorb any bad smells!

– The grill

If you love grilling then you need to know how to clean the grill, right? I have found that the best way to do so is by making a paste with dish soap and baking soda. Spread it all over the grill rack and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Then, of course, grab a scrubbing brush and scrub then rinse!

– Dishwashing tablets

Did you know that you can make your own dishwashing tablets? Well, you can even make them with baking soda. All you need is baking soda, kosher salt, washing soda, and citric acid and your dishes will be spotless!

– Upholstery

I like cleaning my mattress with baking soda and essential oils. Not only do I clean it but I disinfect it as well. I simply mix the baking soda with the essential oil of my choice, sprinkle the entire mattress with it, and leave it for a few hours. Then I vacuum the powder.

This is a great way to clean not only your mattress but your sofa as well!

Removing Food Coloring Stains? Here is how to do it!

Posted by Layla Byrd on

If you enjoy cooking and think presentation is important then I am sure you have used food colouring in some form – gel, powder, liquid. It’s a pretty fun way to decorate your dishes or desserts but the one downfall is that they will easily stain your clothes.

But don’t stress about it – these stains are easy to remove. To be honest, in most cases you would probably only need cold water and laundry detergent to get rid of it.

Let’s get to cleaning!

Rinse the stained area with cold water – simply hold the clothing item with the wrong side up under cold running water.

Then grab the laundry detergent you usually use and treat the stained area with it. Either work in it with your fingers or use a soft brush. Once you are done and the stain is gone – wash the clothing item in your washing machine.

But if the stain isn’t completely gone then you can mix cold water and an oxygen-based bleach. I suggest you dilute the bleach according to what the package directions say so that you don’t experience any problems. Once you do that soak the clothing piece in the mixture overnight, then wash as usual!

Learn how to unclog a drain using your vacuum cleaner

Posted by Layla Byrd on

Unclogging a drain is one of the most annoying chores ever – it even beats cleaning a toilet in my opinion. However, I have found a pretty amazing and easy trick that will fix your problems and it has everything to do with your vacuum cleaner. I know it sounds very weird but trust me – it will save your life.

You will only need a wet-dry vacuum and a rag.

Start with turning the water on and letting it build up a little. Make sure to dip the rag in there.

Grab the end of your vacuum cleaner’s hose, place the rag on there and press everything against the drain. Now turn on your vacuum cleaner. You would want to create a tight seal.

Once you are done slowly remove the vacuum hose. If your sink or tub stains properly then you have successfully removed the hair or grime that is causing the trouble. If not then feel free to repeat the whole process.
