How To Remove Water Stains From Upholstery?

Posted by Layla Byrd on

Can you believe that water can leave stains? I know that it sounds weird, however, some fabrics like suede can easily get stained by water which is why you shouldn’t use it whenever you clean your suede sofa, for example – instead, use rubbing alcohol.

But cleaning upholstery is a different topic for another day. Today, I will focus only on removing water stains… from upholstery.

Thankfully, it’s super easy and there is particularly one method I love using that works every time. And the best part is that you don’t need any fancy cleaners – just a few household natural ingredients!

Here Is How To Remove Water Stains From Upholstery!

Start off by mixing half a cup of distilled white vinegar with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Then pick a spot on your upholstery that is hidden so you can test the solution and see whether it leaves any stains behind. Just spray a bit of the solution on the area and wait for it to dry.

If it does not leave any stains behind then continue with spraying the affected area and gently blot with a microfiber cloth. Repeat these steps until the stain is removed completely.

Then grab your hairdryer and dry the area. That way, you won’t have to wait a long time until the area air-dries.

If the solution does leave any stains behind then you need to use either a steam cleaner or an iron that has a steam setting. You need to steam the affected area for a minute then blot with a clean cloth to remove the moisture. Repeat a few times and the water stain will be gone!
